Governor
MUGABOWAGAHUNDE Maurice has served as the Governor of the Northern Province since 10 August 2023. The Governor represents the Government of Rwanda at the provincial level and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Province’s responsibilities and activities.
In the execution of his daily duties, the Governor is supported by the Provincial Executive Secretary.

NGENDAHIMANA Pascal has served as the Executive Secretary of the Northern Province since 25 April 2024.
The Provincial Executive Secretariat is composed of the Executive Secretary and other staff recruited through a competitive process. Provincial staff are governed by the general statute governing public service employees.
The responsibilities of the executive secretary are defined in detail in the law determining the organization and functioning of the Provinces, as published in the Official Gazette of 28 January 2006.
